Fireworks or a Hot Air Balloon festival? How about both! Check out the fun events happening the week of Independence Day. From Fruita, to Grand Junction, to Delta and Collbran, there are plenty of chances to watch fireworks and celebrate the 4th of July!

The Fourth of July is a time to remember our nation’s independence and enjoy some true American traditions. Whether you’re looking for some fireworks or experience a unique hot air balloon festival, there are plenty of ways to spend time with friends and family this year.

Fruita Fireworks

On July 3rd, from 7:00-9:00, Fruita’s Fourth of July tradition stays alive with their firework display. This display is so vibrant that it can be seen from almost anywhere in Fruita.

But if you want the best views, come early so you can secure a spot at James M. Robb State Park. Here, the fireworks explode directly overhead. However, parking can get crazy. You’ll see people parking around 17 road or even City Market and walking to James M. Robb State Park.

If you’re early enough, you can park in the state park along with your other 4th of July enthusiasts. Fireworks usually start at sundown, and don’t forget to bring a chair or blankets to relax in the grass.

The 4th is an active day for celebrations. Starting at 10:00 am, Grand Junction’s Main Street becomes colorful with floats, live performances, and patriotic music. Pedestrian-friendly sidewalks provide room for everyone to enjoy the parade. Downtown is all local with no franchises, so enjoy the privately owned shops and restaurants.

Throughout the day, you can swim at Lincoln Pool or watch the Grand Junction Razorback Suckers play against the Tucson Saguaros for four straight days, including the 4th at Suplizio Field.

After the baseball game, the night sky comes alive. Bring a blanket or lawn chairs to enjoy the fireworks from Lincoln Park. Since the park is right next to the stadium, fireworks will be exploding right over your head.

Delta Hot Air Balloon Festival + Fireworks + Drones

Hot Air Balloon Festival

  4. When 7:00-9:00 am, Hot Air Balloon Tethering. Ascensions at 6:00 am.
Delta Hot Air Balloons

Delta does not take the Fourth of July lightly. From Thursday the 2nd to Sunday the 5th, events are running and memories are being made. The third and the fourth are the busiest days, with activities planned the entire day.

They are hosting their third annual Western Sky Balloon Festival. They are expecting around 20 balloons that ascend early in the morning and also the evening balloon glows. This is all weather permitting.

Delta is about a 55 minute drive from our Korima neighborhood in Fruita.

Plateau Valley Heritage Days

If you want to experience cooler temperatures, Collbran, a town on the Grand Mesa, is also having several unique events. A big attraction, the CPRA Rodeo, is set to start on Friday, July 3 at 7:00pm. You also don’t want to miss the parade on main street Saturday morning. And later that evening sit back and enjoy the firework display.
